Since the launch of the 2020 A-Plus Contracting Hunter Valley Mining Charity Rugby League Day back in late March there has definitely been some positive changes to everyday life with the easing of restrictions and reduced active cases of Coronavirus during this health crisis that we all face.
From the onset of planning this year’s Charity Rugby League event it was been done so under a cloud given the Coronavirus pandemic. In light of the Government's recent easing of restrictions we are starting to see new arrangements being put in place to accommodate community activities/events including local sporting competitions. Whilst it has not been confirmed, the local Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League Grand Final has been tentatively scheduled for October 17 should their competition commence mid-July, which would see a clash in dates. Similarly, we are advised that the Newcastle Hunter Rugby League competition would be in the midst of it finals series at the same time should they recommence in July as well. It has therefore been decided that it’s in the best interest of all involved and to ensure maximum fundraising potential that we will be moving the event from our traditional October date to a new date of SATURDAY 7th NOVEMBER 2020. In pushing the event back by a few weeks, it's hoped that we will be able to ensure that there is no clash of date with local Rugby League competitions but also hopefully allow us to host the event under even further reduced Coronavirus restrictions. We currently have 12 teams registered (Cobras, Grizzlies, Maulers, Phoenix, Barbarians, Razorbacks, Knights, Raiders, Rattlesnakes, Rhinos, Sharks, Warriors) and it is anticipated to increase in the coming weeks. Once again, we thank all of the players and sponsors for supporting this event, and look forward to seeing everyone come together for another great celebration of community in support the vital live saving work of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. |
