Don't miss out on your tickets for the 2020 A-Plus Contracting Charity Rugby League Day this March.
To ensure the health and safety of all players, spectators, volunteers and staff we need to limit spectator numbers. Therefore in accordance with our Covid Safety Plan all spectators must pre-purchase their tickets online. Strictly no tickets sales will be permitted at the gate. Tickets are just $5 per person (plus booking fee) With the postponement of the 2020 A-Plus Contracting Hunter Valley Mining Charity Rugby League Day until next March we have an opportunity to place one last and final order of support jerseys and supporter polos before the event. Supporter Jerseys ($60* each) or Supporter Polo ($40* each) from all 16 teams are available to be purchased. This will mean that we will NOT be placing another order after the event as we will be moving straight into planning for our 2021 installment. So this is your last chance to show your support for your favorite team. Orders must be place with full payment by Monday 21 December 2020 *2.2% Processing Fee for all Visa and Mastercard payments
Whilst a considerable amount of energy and effort has been poured into the planning of this event under the challenging conditions, we have always remained optimistic about the hosting the event this year, with hope that we could provide the community an escape from the current happening during this health pandemic.
Unfortunately today we can confirm that based on our risk assessment and consideration provided for the current Government restrictions, it is with much regret that we announce the postponement of the 2020 A-Plus Contracting Charity Rugby League Day until March 2021. Following consultation with all of our teams, we have settled on a revised date of Saturday 20 March 2021. It is anticipating that the event will have to take a different shape with a much “slimmed down” version of the event in March compared to what we have all come to know and enjoy each year. The biggest change we anticipate is that spectators will not be able to attend the event due to the 500 person capacity of the venue based on current restrictions. However we are confident that we will continue to have a high level of engagement with the community and are currently working through the logistics at present to ensure that we can have all games streamed live directly from Pirtek Park, Singleton throughout the day. Even with this change in format we are estimating that we should be in a position to raise approximately $80,000-$90,000 which will have considerable positive boost for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter given the vast majority of face to face fundraising this year has been cancelled or suspended due to Covid-19. We again express our gratitude and sincere thanks to all of our team sponsors and in particular our event partners, A-Plus Contracting, Jennings Print, Pirtek-Singleton & Muswellbrook, Tyre Doctor, Mine Super, Slater & Gordon, Mader New South Wales, NSW Mining, Hunter Valley Operations, Yancoal, All-Pro, Aletek, At The Coalface, Bowers Heavy Haulage, Coal Services Mines Rescue, Oiltest, Walton Mining Service and the Singleton Untied Rugby League Club Since the launch of the 2020 A-Plus Contracting Hunter Valley Mining Charity Rugby League Day back in late March there has definitely been some positive changes to everyday life with the easing of restrictions and reduced active cases of Coronavirus during this health crisis that we all face.
From the onset of planning this year’s Charity Rugby League event it was been done so under a cloud given the Coronavirus pandemic. In light of the Government's recent easing of restrictions we are starting to see new arrangements being put in place to accommodate community activities/events including local sporting competitions. Whilst it has not been confirmed, the local Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League Grand Final has been tentatively scheduled for October 17 should their competition commence mid-July, which would see a clash in dates. Similarly, we are advised that the Newcastle Hunter Rugby League competition would be in the midst of it finals series at the same time should they recommence in July as well. It has therefore been decided that it’s in the best interest of all involved and to ensure maximum fundraising potential that we will be moving the event from our traditional October date to a new date of SATURDAY 7th NOVEMBER 2020. In pushing the event back by a few weeks, it's hoped that we will be able to ensure that there is no clash of date with local Rugby League competitions but also hopefully allow us to host the event under even further reduced Coronavirus restrictions. We currently have 12 teams registered (Cobras, Grizzlies, Maulers, Phoenix, Barbarians, Razorbacks, Knights, Raiders, Rattlesnakes, Rhinos, Sharks, Warriors) and it is anticipated to increase in the coming weeks. Once again, we thank all of the players and sponsors for supporting this event, and look forward to seeing everyone come together for another great celebration of community in support the vital live saving work of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. |
